I’m a pretty decent DIYer, I’ve done different handyman work since I was a kid with my dad and have done a lot since becoming an adult. However I feel like this situation is beyond my skills.
We purchased a house and nearly every light switch is different. We have some paddle dimmers, some toggles that don’t dim, some with touch sensitive dimmers on the side of a toggle, some toggles with dimmer built into the toggle, fan and light switches combined, fan and light switches on separate toggles, and fan and lights on sliders one of which is flipped and the fan side controls the lights. We have three way and four way switches random and, the worst, light switches that control random outlets. I’ve done enough wiring that I feel confident replacing light switches and outlets but the mess of wires that come out when I removed the cover of a three switch cover was just too much. Three different branded light switches with more capped wires than I thought could fit in an electrical box with switches.
Am I stuck with paying an outrageous price to get them professionally switched out? We have a home warranty paid for by the sellers when we purchased the house and I put in an order for multiple switches, but since they work idk if they will actually do anything.
