My lawnmower has stopped
Before it stopped working, it was starting and then stopping

I've turned upside down and am having trouble opening a screw to a part that looks as though it's been put there for accessing inside...

While turned upside down, a small part fell out. It looks like part of round magnet

Can I get this item from anywhere? If I knew what it was called I could do a search

If I could get, then I would figure out how to undo the dodgy screw

See below for a picture I took:

More pics and machine type please!
No idea what that bit is...it could be a blade spacer, but not if its magnetic - is it?
John :)

it's electric
the part isnt magnetic - just looks like one
it looks circular on the outside and the inside seems to indicate that it's hexagnol

see below for a pic of the lawnmower
i assume it's one of the cheap ones - b&q probably

i got it on ebay for £12 - it's served well for 3 years!
if the part cost a pound or 2 and i can simply fit, then i dont need a new one

also... the bit below... i've taken a pic... the screw on the top is very hard to take off. the screw head is rusted. i can feel the head with the screw, but it keeps slipping. i'm hoping if i use the exact screw size and gently force down, i can open. but dont want to waste time if i cant get the part or its impossible to fix

I think it is half of a blade spacer.....the blade is held on by a nut, then its the blade itself, then usually a couple of spacers next so that you can adjust the cutting height. Check there to see if I'm on the right track!
As for stopping and starting, make sure any air vents are clear, check the motor brushes and if the fault is coincidental with moving the mains cable where it enters the mower, it could be a severed wire.
As for shifting the screw, plenty of WD40, pressure and the largest screwdriver you have should shift it.
