I have an ikea wardrobe where the door fell off.

I was thinking of getting 2 of these metal plates and putting over the damaged wood:

I was thinking of using 2 of these as they where the cheapest plates I found.
Good idea or bad idea?
If I use 4 screws on each plate (8 in total), will that stay in place?
The underlying wood is cheap wood (of course being Ikea).
My initial thoughts are: yes, will stay in place, because there being so many screws... the load is spread out?
+ I have used corner plates to fix kitchen doors and know they work fine.
ALSO: The wood that is sticking out doesn't push back in.
Should I take off and try to use filler? Or is that useless to do - given that the inside is hollow?
