I need to know if a triple sealed unit...

4mm float, 4mm float, 6.4 lam

would offer more sound insulation than a triple sealed unit...

4mm float, 4mm float, 4mm float.

Obviously i'd think yes, but need to check.

Ta

I have all the U value results, just need sound details

Adding weight or 'mass' to any structure goes a long way to stopping noise. If the glass is denser/heavier than t'uther then it will make a difference.

The amount of difference may not be noticeable though.

if max sound insulation is required then i think 10mm float can be specified. ( i think it also satisfys safety glass requirements as well by the strength that it's thickness gives it, but check this).

if you are triple glazing for sound insulation reasons i think that a double unit with 10mm glass gives more sound insulation that a triple with regular glass. in other words the added mass is more deadening than the air gap. (but again check this)

Good points there (My Physics lessons are all coming back to me).

I'd love to know if its measureable and if it does indeed shave a few Db's :)

Thanks

I presume there would be a difference on paper, but in reality I would doubt that any difference would be discernible
