Hello,

I did try a search before posting but couldn’t quite find what I was after. Since bleeding all of my radiators my bedroom radiator gets far too hot. It doesn’t have a TRV.

The cap on the manual valve just rotates freely in either direction without making a difference. I can’t remove it because the screw is rusted. Do I need to drill the screw out and take a look?

Thanks for your help

Sorry - realised I’d posted this in the wrong forum but I’m not sure if/how I can move it

Thanks so much for responding. There is a locksheild valve but it’s firmly stuck open. I’ll try some wd40 on it, but my attempts so far are just mangling the spindle. I’m not afraid to change the valves but that means draining the system which I only did at the weekend when I fitted a new rad downstairs. There’s a lesson for me - to check if there needs to be any other work done while I’ve already got the system drained down!

The cover on the valve in my first post just turns and turns without loosening or tightening anything up. I wonder if the plastic has perished inside so it’s not gripping anything

Yes it could have done, given the age. I’ve encountered this on several occasions
