Need to remove loads of slates (fibre cement- double lapped)

Hello,

I need to remove loads of slates (fibre cement- double lapped), which must be replaced and need some tips on how to keep them in the right order (many cut slates at verge, abutment, windows) for putting back on the roof.

Unfortunately it is not practicable to remove fibre-cement slates and have them in a sufficiently good state to be re-used.

The nail holes get too damaged and the slates tend to fracture.

I suppose you could grind the nail heads off if it is important to you to keep the slates but it would be very time consuming and may not work.
