Neff dishwasher not taking water

We have an 11 year old intergrated dishwasher which is not working. It appears not to be taking in water. When its switched on it hums and soon there is a slight burning smell.
We have read lots of helpful online advice and checked: no pipes are blocked, the pump and micro filter are clear, we have had the machine out and there is no water in the base and the fllood float has not been triggered, we have cleaned the float switch and tried a reset. Nothing has worked and after 5 hours we are at our wits end.

Time to give up and call the professionals?

Have you taken the inlet supply pipe off and checked both ends for the filters and check they are clear?

Way to check if it's a 'not filling issue' try chucking a bowl full of hot tap water in and closing the door, it should start up and continue untill it
