I had a pull cord switch replaced last week for my shower. The neon light goes out after a while on the switch when the shower is being used but the shower stays on, could you tell me if this is a faulty switch and is it safe to use like this. thanks
If you paid someone to replace the switch get them back. Tell them what you are worried about.
It should be safe. Most likely the very thin lead feeding one side of the lamp got damaged whilst trying to bend the brute of a 10mm (6mm) cable into position.
And the wee neons (?). in my own experience, do flicker quite a lot or are quick at going nice but Tim (dim).
It could also be that the wire linking the neon in, is loose and when turned on the wire is heating up and after time loosing contact.
If the work was paid for, ask the installer politely to return and repair.
thanks for the help, just rang the installer he said its safe to use and probably a loose wire going to the neon and hes going to call round and have a look.
