The plip central locking had gone AWOL on an 07 plate Seat Altea.
The owner swore blind that it had been working fine and it should be an easy fix with a new battery.
The only thing I could ascertain was that the key wasn't transmitting anything at all, and that a new key plus the programming would be needed, and it wasn't a job for me.
Owner pipes up - 'would putting the key in the microwave damage it then'
It makes you wonder how some folks manage to get dressed in a morning.
John :D

Note to self:

Take keys out of trousers before drying them in the micro........

classic
i do hope you have charged him what the stealers wouldve done?

Unfortunately I don't know how to code a new key to the system, so I sent her to a trusted VW specialist locally.
This is what I tend to do with issues like these - sometimes its just not cost effective for me to mess about and get nowhere in the end!
John :)

Don't blame you John, I was in electronics all my working life but I don't understand them now.

I'd have told the owner to sell the car and not buy another one as they are too stupid to own one!
