Volkswagen T2 camper van - 59 plate.
A most peculiar intermittent metallic rattle coming from the offside front wheel......several investigations by me could find absolutely nothing wrong - sometimes the rattle was there, sometimes it wasn't.
Very distinctive when it was there though.
Eventually cracked it - some nerk had popped a 12mm nut into the tyre before fitting it :p

Reminds me of the old "nut in the hubcap" joke, when there were such things as hubcaps. :)

Reminded me of my mates Renault Dauphine the rattle from the hub cap turned out to two of the three wheel nuts had come off!

850cc, rear engine and crazy 'clap hands' rear suspension, which changed from positive to negative camber so quickly the car was likely to roll :p
John :)

As I remember I think it went on to be the redesined and "improved" by Skoda as the Estelle :D

I can just remember the tv ads for the Dauphine, Song something about "Holding the road" IIRC, but you never saw many on the road. Can't remember the last one I actually saw.

Funny there was was a brief shot of one in a bit of film from that "mods and rockers" thing that was on BBC4 a few nights back.

There were quite a few about where I used to live, I thought they were quite a pretty car - then all of a sudden they all disappeared. I think once the rust started they would disintegrate on a journey so it had disappeared by the time you got back. Did see one at a show a few years ago and another one in an old film.
