Hi

I have a Worcester Bosch 24i Junior boiler we don't have an external thermostat just the programmer, but i want to install a nest wireless thermostat, I'm not confident wiring it in
but do we need to remove the programmer then install a receiver, then the nest thermostat can be placed anywhere as it connects wirelessly. I'm not sure if the costs are actually worth if its any more complicated than that.

TIA

Chris

Nest’s aren’t entirely wireless, so you may be better with a Hive. Yes you can remove the programmer, fit the Nest, and use the thermostat. For a Nest to work, you’d need to use the usb plug for it, or run some wiring for it.

I have actually bought the nest thermostat e, seems simple enough just a 2 core cable to what was the original link LS/LR. i was under the impression the programmer was disabled but i can't understand how the hot water would work, i like the option of the programmer to be able to turn off the hot water, or is the programmer left active so you can still have the hot water controlled. ?

I think yours is a combi, so no need to turn hot water on/off, it’s on demand. Yes a 2 core heat resistant cable, on Ls/Lr.

you cant turn off the HW on a combi, it is controlled by a flow sensor of some type and is activated by opening a hot tap, post pice of your controller and boiler, I think you are getting mixed up with what you have

Hi

Here is a picture, what i am saying is do i leave the programmer in situ so i still have full control of the hot water as shown off/timed/once/off. IMG_20210117_125625755[3815].jpg

Seen a few of them on combi’s, no idea why though, perhaps they didn’t produce a single channel version? Post a photo of boiler please. (Although it does look like a combi).

He claims there isn’t.
Yes mate but how many times do punters forget to mention we used to have one but we dont use it any more, if they never had one then setting the programmer to constantly on will work, if they did have one the ribbon will have to be disconnected

So, do I fit the heat sink using 2 core cable then leave the programmer on, obviously not setting it on timer?

If you only want to use two wires , you will need the Nest E, if you use a nest 3rd gen you will need 4 or 5 core cable
