new bell box

I wish to change my bell box . the bell box is an elmdene HS model and I will be replacing it with the same model. the control panel is the honeywell Accentra/Optima compact 8EP396A.
What I would like to ask is how to replace the box with out the sounder going off. I have the engineers code.

In very simple terms, you can't, they are designed to 'go off' when tampered with, if they didn't they wouldn't be of much use would they?

Why the replacement? New cover?

Whatever as above, tamper with it .............it sounds.

Thanks for your reply, I have a dummy box of the same make which on examning could see a small magnet in the top of the cover , is this like a reed switch ? if I took the magnet out and placed on the live box switch would this stop the alarm untill I have disconected it ?.

What do the bell box's instructions say as to installation?

That should give you some idea of how to take down & reinstall in the quietest way.
