Hi, I'm new to this forum and would appreciate any helpful comments on the following problem.
I have just had a new Worcester Bosch 30CDI boiler fitted and the boiler seems fine after just over a week working, but in the bathroom next door, the shower wouldn't work properly. I needed it set on the lowest water pressure and the hottest temp setting to get it just warm - couldn't get it hot at all, and when it was switched off, the water kept dripping, which it didn't do before the boiler was fitted. The plumber said we needed a new shower and so we had a Mira one fitted that he recommended to us. The problem is, now the new shower is fitted, it is dripping more than what the old one did - example, I did a test to see how much it dripped, and placed a 1/2 pint glass under the drip, and it filled within 15 minutes.
I have also noticed that when the heating is on, and the shower is dripping, that the boiler pressure creeps over the 1.5 bar mark. Is this pressure ok, or is the drip causing the pressure to rise? Also, what can be done to stop the drip? I am not technical when it comes to boilers and plumbing as you can tell! Please help, the dripping is driving me mad!

useally a thermostatic cartridge fault.

are your mains pressures within the showers spec i think max 5 bar on this model.

Thanks for the quick reply. I don't know the exact mains pressure, but the boiler it is attached to is reading 1.5 bar. The reply you gave suggests that the thermostatic cartridge fault is a common one. Am I reading this right?

thats only the pressure of the heating circuit not the mains water pressure coming into the house.

not on a shower thats new but can happen.
thats why i mentioned the mains pressure.
is it still dripping now ?

Yes it is still dripping now and has been for the last 24 hours. It's been used twice in that time, but never stops dripping when off. How do I find out about the mains pressure coming into the house? The shower previous to this new one was an Aqualisa, and never dripped until we had the new boiler fitted.

get a pressure gauge and check the mains pressure can be done on a garden tap.

older showers that wasn't designed for mains pressure can do this when put on mains pressure.

yours is under 3 yr warranty so you can give mira a ring.

Thanks very much for your help. Much appreciated. It all starts to make sense, as the old shower was fed on the cold water from the tank in the loft (that's no longer there), and now it's direct from the mains, and the hot was fed directly from the old boiler. I'll get the plumber to check the mains pressure. The daft thing is, before he fitted the new shower, he fitted 2 pressure regulators, one on each feed (hot & cold), but now he's taken them off, so this looks like where the problem is coming from. Although, when they were fitted, we could never get the shower hot! Do we just need a pressure reg valve on the cold feed?

and the hot was fed directly from the old boiler.
the hot would of been from the cylinder which is supplied by the same cws in the loft as the cold to your shower.

Although, when they were fitted, we could never get the shower hot!
did you try reducing the cold one more.
Do we just need a pressure reg valve on the cold feed?

check it first if under 5 bar which the instructions state phone mira they'll come out under the warranty for free.

Again, I've no idea how much he reduced the cold one, if not at all. I'll ask, as this would make sense that we couldn't get enough hot water through.

Many thanks, you've been a big help.

Cheers.
