Hello there,

1st post and hopefully a simple one for people to answer....

My last boiler has just given up - and seeing as I'm going to redo the whole kitchen I thought it's wise to purchase a new conden - combi boiler (the Potterton Promax 24 HE Condensing Boiler to be exact as the dimensions are very good) for my 3 bed terraced house.

Now I don't have very much wall space at the moment (as I'm in process of taking out partition / loadbearing walls) so I thought the best place for it would be under the counter by the floor - the space is enough to give it the room it needs around it - so basically - is it safe to put it there and run the flue up the wall and out at a suitable level??

I would appreciate any answers - as it's very cold at the moment!!!

Cheers - Chris

you firstly will need to check the boiler can be accessed with ease for service and repairs.

I am not familiar with this unit so can you tell me why you cant flue the thing straight out of the wall horizontally and stick a basket on it???

other than that dont see any reason why you cant put it where you want,
I will be corrected if I am wrong

OK thanks for the reply...

There's no reason for the flue to go out further up - but the boiler will be next to the door and I don't want people to get a mouthful of steam as they exit the kitchen...

However, I think I may change my mind to larger (non-condensing) model as I don't think it's got enough output to heat the house properly

- 3 bedrooms
- 2 floors
- terraced
- 7 rads
- victorian solid wall

This model is 22Kw whereas I suppose I should be going for a 28Kw +, and also there is no controls on the boiler at all - how am I supposed to set when the boiler comes on or not ? (there is NO optional control unit either??)

So, I'm not sure this is a particularly wise choice.... anyone to back this info up at all?

Cheers, Chris

22kw will most likely be fine for heating but it isn't going to kick out much hot water. The flue must be a minimum of 600mm horizontally from the door
