New central heating system

Hi I've just brought my first house I've been quoted:

Whole new central heating system (in copper)
Supplied by plumber
Viessmann boiler 28kw (supplied by plumber)
With magna-clean
10 radiators various sizes (5 double 5 single supplied by plumber)
New bathroom suit (supplied by myself)
Toilet and little sink downstairs (supplied by me)
Connect up kitchen sink and washing machine
I've been given a price by two plumbers first for £4,900 and the second one for £5,500 do these prices seem a fair price or way to much?

Sounds reasonable for a proper installer who is registered with Viessmann.

Sounds a bit high for a second rate gas reg person who is short of work!

Marsden, if you can get references from customers, unknown to these two fellas, go with what your heart tells you. Do not see the need for megnaclean if new system is going to be commissioned as per the makers requirements.

The price tag is not important, what is, is the quality of work turned out that will see you happy for a long time. Have seen so called pros make a hash of it and diyers (hasten to add, they should not tinker with gas appliances) whose work deserve high merits.

By the way, ensure gas line is correctly sized and benchmark logbook completed correctly with readings taken and not just copied.

Are you sure its a Viessmann 28kw, as they only list a 26, 30 & 35kw.

Sorry I should of been more clear one of the plumbers have done
A few jobs for my family in the past and the other one has been
Recommend from my best friend so I trust the plumbers and know there work
Is a good standard it's just I'm not sure on the price if that fair or not
And sorry I got the kw wrong its 28kw thanks

So you know the work should be good as both are recommended, you're getting a decent job all in copper with a decent boiler. You're getting all the hot and cold services plus wastes being replaced in the main bathroom, downstairs cloakroom and kitchen. Sounds like a reasonable price to me.

Do viessmann do a 28Kw.

I would question the capability to supply that lot from any combi least of all a mid range one.

The best one as my family have used him
And you can not go wrong with family recommendation
Just needed a little help from you guys that the price
