Hi there, I am looking at getting a composite door installed in my home fairly soon with a microchip cat flap fitted. Does anyone have any experience of these doors and cat flaps, if there is any metal in the skin of the doors at all it can affect the operation of the cat flap, are composite doors manufactured with a metal skin.

No just foam filled or solid core (timber), no other reinforcing steel or otherwise

Just one thing to add. Most Composite doors have inverted decorative panels on the lower half which would leave gaps around a catflap and look bodged. I would suggest looking at cottage style Comp doors that dont have the 2 rectangular moldings at the bottom.
