I have just dug up the earth floor in the kitchen of an old house and installed membrane and 150 mm. concrete:

1)should I treat the surface (what with) ...either now or just before laying ceramic tiles ?

2) how long should I leave it before tiling and how long will it take to dry out?

For 1) Depends on how good the finish is. As long as it's not dusting and there are no lumps or dips you can tile straight on to it. Otherwise use self-levelling screed.

For 2) Ideally one month per inch - so 5 months in your case. Not always practical. Hold off for as many weeks as you can or until the wife chews your ear off.

I hope you took the opportunity to stick some insulation in while the floor was up. It makes a huge difference.
