I'm have a new conservatory built by a builder / conservatory company. They've done the foundations, sub walls and slab. They're building the superstructure and all the doc / Dom has gone in.

The first course of external block above the slab have small air vents between the cavity and the outside. However the external ground level will be about 100 - 150mm a over the slab so the vents will be below ground level.

Is this right?
How might the builders ensure they work?
Are the vents to allow air in or moisture out? (Walls will have foil backed insulation in the cavity)

I'm guessing that you have existing suspended timber floors in the room that the connie abuts yes/no?

DPC/DPM?

vents below finished ground level is wrong!

I'm assuming this is an insulated floor slab so confused what the vents are for.

post a pic.

I assumed the vents were in the existing for the existing suspended floor. But then I've just re-read it so maybe not? The OP needs to clarify though if its a conservatory company its probably up by now, all nasties hidden away until they re-surface in a few years!

Are they vents or gaps for drain for any water entering cavity???

Firstly thanks for the response

I was meant to say DPC / DMP in my original post.

The conservatory is coming off a newly built house that is timber framed and has a beam and block ground floor that is adequately vented around he entire house.

The conservatory has a concrete slab cast inside the new strip foundations and block sub structure. The slab will then have 100mm of insulation and 50mm screed with a wet under floor floor heating system.

The vents I'm referring to are in the first later of block above the slab and they are about 50mm in height and 10mm wide placed in the vertical mortar joints about ever 4 blocks. These will eventually be under the external grind level when the back fill is completed.
