Hi,

I'd like to put an extractor fan in the bathroom however there isn't any access to an external wall. The bathroom is on the 1st floor, directly below the loft and a friend suggested simply putting the extractor fan in the ceiling so that moisture is expelled directly into the loft. Is this common? Will it work? I would have thought that consistent dampness in the loft wouldn't be a good idea with exposed wooden joists everywhere....?

Thanks for any advice.

Similar situation to me. Definitely don't vent into the loft. You can get a slate vent that goes in place of an existing roof slate. You then mount an inline extractor in the loft and connect it up with flexible ducting. Steve.

Cheers for the answer. I don't have access to the roof though and didn't really want to do anything as extensive as replacing roof tiles. Can anyone suggest an alternative?
