Hi all
Have been having problem with combi boiler (alpha 240e) where it keeps igniting and going out each time it's coming on...
recently had a service and the chap thought he'd fixed the problem, and said it appeared to be down to the flame sensor not sensing a flame so turning the gas off and trying again repeatedly, eventually staying lit.
problem is back, so before I call again wanted to ask on here if it's possible to replace a flame sensor, and if it's likely to cost much?

thank

I am pretty certain the 240e is a permanent pilot model, therefore has a Thermocouple, this is unlikely to be causing the fault you describe
your "Service " engineer needs to think again!
This is not a DIY job as all relevent parts are inside the combustion box which means qualified engineers only! ;)

The 240e is electronic ignition and the 240p has a perm pilot.
There are several reasons for your boiler fault, all of which require expert attention.

thanks guys
yes it is electronic ignition, no pilot light
what sort of thing could it be (most likely) and how expensive!?
thanks

The flame sensor is a passive component and so does not often fail.

There is no "often" cause of those symptoms.

Each boiler has to be examined and tested to diagnose the problem.

Likely cost £80-£160 depending on the cause.
