I'm thinking about having a room-wide dormer window added to my pitched roof, which will involve having a flat roof of about 10 feet square. It will be three stories up and not particularly accessible, so I want to make it last as long as possible. Is rubber the answer (as the actress said to the bishop..)? Any views appreciated.

I've recently had my two flat roofs redone in fibreglass (GRP).

Looks neat, no seams anywhere, nice light gray colour (heat reflection), can walk on it no problem, won't scratch.
Very happy, wouldn't have it any other way.

I did consider the various EDPM rubbers, but in my view GRP has the edge.
Just make sure it is layed properly, if it rains while it cures it will never be OK.
