New flat roof

I am in process in getting quotes for a new flat roof approx 54 square metres using felt on timber. My garage is gained with the neighbours who also has the same type of roof.

I have spoken to local independent sole traders with 20 years plus experience.

They will install a new roof but will give a manufacturers 15 year gurantee with a completion certificate so if there are any issues in the future the manufacturer will deal with this. They said if there are any issues they will come and sort this out.

It this worth while going for this option and is this common???

I am looking for a 3 layer system. Can anyone give an idea on costs?

The way you phrase it it sounds as though the 15 year guarantee is by the Mfr's for their material only?
Your concern is that the workmanship stands up for a min of 15yrs & that all obvious possibilities are covered in writing.
People will say and promise most anything before they get your money - afterwards its a different story.
A posted photo of the roof showing what's yours and what's your neighbours would help?

what he said was if there is a issue, the manufacturers will come and sort this out, if it was with the installation, they will get him to put it right or put it right themselves and bill him. is this normal?

2 of the roofers have said they will install a 2 layer system, 2.5 base and 4.5 top layer, is this as good as a 3 layer system?

In brief, Mfr's guarantee their materials only, in my limited experience they dont give open ended guarantees to installers regarding the installation.
Obtain written copies of whats to be done for how much, and all guarantees - then call the Mfr.
