Hi,

do I need to inform the house insurance for floor renovation in UK?
It’s gonna be porcelain, so around 3 tons of stuff between different floors + underlying.

I’ll certainly notify them so I have peace of mind, but is there any regulation as such in UK?

I just realised that they didn’t ask me how these things are made of, so it was pointless.

Tell them anyway. There may be a word like "conventional" in the T's and C's.

Thanks but there wasn’t, and conventional would mean also tiles I guess, it’s just a normal floor, I didn’t make it out of concrete , or metal bars.
Otherwise they should have asked a precise question, but not even a basic one.

They don’t even know how the property is made as of now, as they list bricks but there is also airtight concrete inside…
For example, that is the case when they ask you how the house is made, but they actually refer to how it looks from the outside, so I replied bricks but that’s just a stupid rendering with real bricks and metal plates. I’ve never understood why they use real bricks for that, such a waste of material and it’s damn slow to build.

House insurance includes a cost for the total rebuild of the buildings. If your new flooring does not up the cost beyond that already insured, I assume you do not need to inform the insurer.

That’s a very good point, as I just purchased, it won’t move the price tag, but one day is gonna be very important.

Reason why I documented the work done with a video, and in any case any future evaluation should be done either by the bank directly or some official entity, otherwise my video may not be “trusted”, possibly before any distructive event
