New internal door strike plate hole

Just bought 2 new half glazed doors to let some light into the kitchen and hallway but noticed are current doors strike plate shape.

Is this going to be something I could do without a jig or would it be easier to just buy a new plate (rectangular shaped)

I see no point in a DIYer buying a router and learning to use it for this job.

Yes, a chisel will be easier and cheaper for you.
