Hello,

I have a new B&Q Wain mixer tap

wain-chrome-effect-kitchen-twin-lever-tap

I want to attach flexi tails (supplied ones are about 14") and remove copper tails from existing tap.
Currently the copper tails going into old tap are about 9 inches, so I can't find flexi tails that short.

I've seen people on youtubes using a flexi tap connectors to get a flat edge, so I guess I need those
in the mix too.

Should I:

Cut pipework and move isolation valve down to match length of flexi tails? (not much room)
Replace the bend in copper pipe with straight pipe and elbow joint first?
Reuse the existing copper tails and try to screw them into new tap? (currently, tails at a slight angle)

I'm wondering if I could get some advice before I put new tap in.

Thanks
Smiffy

1. Don't try and reuse the old pipes into the tap. Unlikely they are the same thread.
2. The key thing is to get the flexis to fit without their being twisted or crushed.
3. If you can I'd measure the end of the flexis which screw into the tap, and get shorter flexis with the same thread (likely to be M10 or M12).
4. Otherwise alter the copper pipework as necessary to get the flexis that came with the tap to fit.
5. You shouldn't really screw flexi connectors to ordinary isolation valves as the sharp edges of the valves can cut the sealing washers. To do it properly either use a flat faced isolation valve or an adaptor such as Screwfix item 2665R
6. There is no point using PTFE tape on the threads of compression fittings. They seal on the olives, not on the threads.
