New Oil fired Boiler needed

Replacement for a Trianco Redfyre oil boiler output 45kw (20 radiators)
Our boiler is leaking and we need a new one . Cost is an issue and we dont know who to trust to give us a fair quote . Which boiler should we replace it with and how much should it cost ? Are there any deals to be had or grants available .Should we stick with oil or move to gas . Would the change over cost more than sticking to oil ? Thanks

I can't comment on grants or deals, Linda, but when you get quotes, mention the Grant boilers name.....very highly thought of.

Either a Grant or a Worcester-Bosch boiler, they're the only two makes worth looking it. Get a few quotes off local installers and decide which looks best (not necessarily cheapest). You probably won't get much change out of £3k, maybe more, but it depends on so many factors it's hard to give any kind of figure at all really

Oil prices are in chaos at the moment...before last year kerosene was around 45p per litre, over Chrismas it went up to 80p or more. Its a bit more stable now but there will never be the competition in oil that there will be by gas providers.
Unfortunately I would say go for gas at the moment.

If you have the option to switch to gas without too much cost then go for gas

It wouldnt be mains gas,would this make a big difference to the price of the installation of a new boiler ?

If you're talking bottled gas vs oil stick with the oil, the boiler will be more expensive to buy but LPG is more expensive than oil generally
