I'm replacing my old 3 port valve and have come across a huge problem, perhaps it's cause i aint a plumber!!!

The old valve (which is very old) has female ends/fittings, the one i bought, and i think most that are sold today are male ends so a simple problems has just turned BIG. I don't want to get in to cutting pipes and stuff, and the way the thing has been plumbed in originally, means there is no room to do that easily due to 90 degree bends/fittings etc.

I think i need a real plumber, but could someone tell the me the crack with the connection differences.

Thanks

You can still get 3/4" internal bsp 3 port valves all you do is remove adaptors or bushes from old valve when it is out & transfer to new one

I don't think he means that, W.
Old valves often had a male nut sliding on the pipe with an olive deep in the valve at the bottom of the female thread. Very few new ones do, though some 28mm ones iirc.

If it's 22mm, the usual is to get the old olives off. Cut a slot in them carefully with a fine saw then snap with a screwdriver.

What make of valve have you bought? Do you mean male as in ChrisR description or WAL?

Have i bought an external one where as i have an internal fitting one? either way, i have took the bushes etc out the new one and am currently putting them in the old body as everything seems to fit. the only issue is i dont know which port the valve/open indicator in the actuator fixing plate shoud be!!!! i'm lookign for pictures now!!

thanks for the replies. i'm replacing the orignal stuff with like for like, i'm using Danfoss stuff with HSA3 acts and HSV valves.
