New patio advice

Just had patio done sandstone, and cleaned it just with water at this point and white mark appearing. Guy who laid it said use Algon cleaner which I bought but I saw available a residue cleaner as there is also stuck on grout from when they swept it in.
What is the white stuf?
How to prepare it for sealant?
