Hi,
I am helping out the old man, who wants to remove his postage stamp area that is his lawn and lay a patio.
as mentioned the area is quite small.
Just after some pointers really, I would remove all turf with a shovel, and remove any weeds etc. The ground is really hard so dont think hardcore base will be required.
Once the ground (mud) is all level and even whats the best method to lay the slabs onto, readd somewhere about just a sand base, but surely that cant be right?
I was thinking of a sharp sand and concrete mix, but mixed quite dry? Whats the best mix, 4 in 1?
Assuming this is the correct way, what depth of this mix is required?
My thoughts are just trowel the mix evenly and lay slabs on it, tapping down with rubber mallet, then 'point in' with the same mix?
Does this all sound ok?
Many thanks in advance for the advice.
Cheers
