hi
ive read were it be advised to give newly plasterd walls a coat of watered down emulsion to seal plaster, is it ok to use a white emulsion, as walls are going to be a magnolia type colour.

You will be fine to use white, try if you can to use a Matt as opposed to a silk emulsion.

And use something like Dulux Supermatt or Crown Covermatt drywall primer with no vinyl in the paint for the first 2 flash coats.
