New roof advise

I am going to reroof a single pitch roof and have a couple of questions:

1) The roof is old slate. Do i just keep the good ones and sell them, or should i use them in the new install. How much do these old slates sell for. They are going to be about a 10 x 14" size slate.

2) Any ideas on using brazillian ? I have just has some quotes and they are about £1 a slate plus vat (500 x 250).

3) I am planning on fitting rigid insulation between the rafters as well. Can i leave the insulation flush with the top of the rafter, or should i leave a 25mm breathing gap ?

1/ 10 x 14 don't fetch much almost more trouble than they are worth.

2/ don't

Why not brazillian ?

What about spanish ? Just seems brazillian is a bit cheaper.

There are not many we have not used form all over the world. That's why not

There are some ok Spanish
Ssq do a few nice ones
Remember T1 S1 W1 rateing its not the be all and end all but it'll put you in the safe zone
Avoid Standards (STD) unless you are used to slating.

I want to use travis P as they are literally 500m from where i am working.

So i will go in next monday to have a look at stock and check what grades they have.

Can i go across the roof for ventilation instead of from eaves to the ridge ?

Cross maybe a better option. So where you fill with mortar on the edges could i fit some type of mesh channel ? Photo included of the side.

Ive sorted it. Breather slates top and bottom. £7 each approx.
