new roof over shed

Going to get a shed made from blocks and thinking about doing the roof myself. I have carried out a small roof over a bay window, but that was easier as I just replaced everything like for like, this time Im starting from scratch

I~s there any guides about on how to start it, what size wood I need and where exactly it would be fitted. Im planning either a single slanting roof forwards, or one with two slants, from the center to the sides.

Any help appreciated

Was thinking of doing a proper roof with tiles rather then felt

Will be phoning local planning office to see if I need permission first as I was told a while ago, under a certain size it was not needed if it was a certain distance away from house

Mine is abou 25m away from the house
