New scheme for young unemployed

What we need is legislation. For every three employees you must take on a trainee. Better still, stop the EEs from taking all the jobs.

1 BILLION pounds has suddenly been found to help the 'young' unemployed. What do I think? I think it's blatant ageism.

75 billion was found for the banks in the last round of quantitative easing. Now that is a waste of money.

With respect Joe, that idea is ridiculous. How can you pass a law that insists an employer takes on a trainee? They either have the time and resource to 'train' someone or they don't.

Imagine someone being sent to an employer who has 3 employees (because legislation insists the employer has a trainee), they don't have time to spend with the person so that person is standing around doing nothing all day every day.
Perhaps even getting in the way. Perhaps costing the employer as they are not trained/skilled etc and therefore are a calculated 'risk' so the employers Employee Liability Insurance goes up!

He can learn the same skills as the other three. If the business expands - he gets a full time post. If one of the three leaves - he gets a full time post. Simples.

How can he/she learn the same skills as 3 other time served, qualified, competent etc etc employees by just standing around?

Joe why would there be a need to pass a law if the oil is going to run out and there will be no need for employment.

How does an apprentice learn?

It won't run out. Just get prohibitively expensive.

An apprentice it there by invitation of the employer. He/she will be 'shown' how to do X Y Z. If someone was 'forced' onto a company the employer isn't going to be too forth coming with training. Why would he/she? It could well be that the employer is completely happy to have the business running with 3 employees. He's not interested in training anyone. He wants his employees to concentrate on work not training. You simply cannot force someone to employ a trainee.

In that case we'll end up with millions of unemployable people who will live on benefits forever. My way means a trained workforce. Employers don't like paying tax - but they do.

So you think a million young people unemployed is a good idea?

There are far more than a million people unemployed. You are referring to the 'young' unemployed only. My point has been, that it is ageist to only concentrate on the 'young' unemployed. If there's ONE BILLION pounds, spread it out across ALL unemployed. Yes there are those that don't want to work but there are those too in the young.
