So I had a new shed delivered and erected last week. 8x8 corner pent, sturdy construction. Not cheap either. Very impressed with shed and company who supplied so far, but...
First rain and it appears to be leaking. Not what I expected, but maybe my expectations are off. I'm hoping somebody might be able to advise please before I go back to the suppliers (who also put it up for me and felted the roof.). I am not sure whether I should expect the wood to settle fully before any of it being fully waterproof, but gut feeling tells me that this should not be the case.
I have put a few photos here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/f79rDwKNUAmbZquf1
First photo shows the shed before painting (it's the one on the left
)
Second photo shows the leak. Admittedly it's not big, but it's only just started raining. Is this acceptable / to be expected for a new shed? I will say it's a little windy but not nearly as windy as it has been / could get.
Third photo, you can see a damp patch slowly appearing where the roof meets the wall.
The last two photos show the roof and the various layers of felt that overlap.
I would be really grateful if someone "in the know" could review and tell me:
1) Whether my expectations for a brand new shed (no leaks whatsoever) are justified?
2) Whether the way the felt overlaps is adequate? I've not seen overlaps in so many places before but have never really looked at them either. I would like to understand how loud I should be shouting at the supplier tomorrow to come back and fix.
3) Would any more nails help? Or maybe something like this applied to all the lines where the felt overlaps? https://goo.gl/xTRbgY
4) I have not fixed any guttering to the shed (yet). In the catalogue it says "guttering highly recommended". My old shed never had any guttering and didn't leak. But - could this be causing this?
All and any thoughts greatly appreciated.
Many thanks
Martin
