I've fitted this new tap , however due to the base of it being a D shape the excess water is dripping through the hole in the sink , I bought the tap as ex display , reduced from £130 to a £10 charity donation at wickes so it was without a washer to go between sink and tap , can these be purchased or is there any suitable material that i can cut out into a suitable shape to use as a washer , ive used a purpose made washer but its actually round ,

If you cant find a washer, maybe clear silicon under the tap may do the trick

Your local Pound shop may have something made of thin silicone rubber sheet from which you could cut out a suitable washer.

Thanks , I did think of silicone however the washer is also to prevent me cracking the sink , I suppose I could always leave washer on and silicone the gap , also poundland is not a bad idea , I was going to cut one out of a plastic milk bottle but I think that they start to biodegrade after a short time , maybe I could find some sort of small rubber mat and cut it out of that

Are you sure that it was not supposed to have an o-ring rather than a washer? was there a groove in the underside. I am not a plumber but I guess you could use a washer with plumbers' mate putty.

It does have a groove , so apologies , what do I need to do with that ? It's a square groove , I suppose that I could fit a thin round washer into a square groove with some manipulation.

Do you know the brand of the tap. You could perhaps contact the manufacturer and tell them that you lost the washer/etc. The better brands will send those kind of bits out for free.
