New Water Main advice

Hi

My current lead mains in in the kitchen and looking to get a new 32mm mains moled to the garage. My new boiler/unvented tank will be in the dining room and wanted to know if I could then run a 25mm mdpe pipe from the mains incomer to the dining room under the suspended floor....would it need to be insulated?

I was hoping to pull it through, so guess I’ll need more boards up to

I think you would struggle to pull mdpe pipe through anywhere.... its a right pain. Closed cell armaflex is what you should insulate it with. Just had mine signed off by utility company and had to insulate the entire pipe under my floor up until it came through boards into house. I take it u don't have a crawl space

There is space but not enough to crawl in it. I may just run 28mm pex instead and insulate it all

28mm PEX is more manageable and probably won't make any difference to flow.... although I prefer HEP20 fittings because the pipe sleeves have a considerably wider bore than JG

Yes a few have said the same. I need to find a 25m roll of it. My incomer will be 35mm pipe reduced down to a 28mm full bite lever valve to which I’ll connect this pipe and run it to the location of new tank

is it better to hang off the joists or lay it on the ground?

Suppose its slightly safer (think rodents) if its clipped to joists but don't think it would make much difference. If uts easy enough to clip it, then clip it. If its a ball ache.... I wouldn't.

Sorry fat fingers, it will be 32mm. Due to be fitted mid February.

Due to timing of getting boiler/tank fitted later, I’ll need to run temp 22mm pipe to just after old stoptap to ensure we still have water. Luckily it’s a fairly easy run from garage to the corner of the kitchen. This will then give me time to lift boards in 3 rooms to route the new 28mm to its new location.

do bes sell the hep20 pipe in 28mm? I couldn’t find it in their website or is it another brand of pipe.

Its not HEP20 pipe..... u just need 28mm barrier pipe. Its all the same. I've used loads of different ones, and I've never found a difference apart from price. Pretty sure most comes from the same place. Check out the SkillBuilder video on YouTube where he visits the place that makes it in Ireland....

Yep. U can use any system u like, but I prefer Hep20. Some prefer John Guest..... both are good. My issue with John Guest stuff is the bore of the inserts is too narrow.

I’ve got some JG speedfit stuff left over from years ago. I’ll be using that for my temp stuff and was looking at hep20 for other central heating work anyway as plastic is easier to feed under suspended floors

Is there much difference in getting easy lay pipe for my central heating runs? Not sure if I’ll feed through joists and suspend them under the joists
