New Wave 1200 wont agitate or spin

Hi

I have a Hoover New Wave 1200 (A8608) that wont turn or spin. It fills with water but the drum doesn't move instead it just makes a noise as thought its trying but nothing is happening. It still goes through the full programming emptying at the appropriate times but it doesn't turn.

I think its the brushes, they certainly look like they need replacing but before I start on the repair track is there likely to be any other cause.

replace the brushes ,thats the easy one ,after that could be motor or pcb fault .
