Hi all! I want to build an oak framed outbuilding in the corner of my property. I’d also like to build a 1000 bottle wine cellar into the floor and thought a pit 2m deep and 1800 dia. Would do for size. While I was thinking about formwork, mesh and concrete pours it occurred to me I might just as well get 2x1m chamber rings and stack them in the hole with a tele-handler ( they’re about 1.5T) and job done. They’ll sit on a gravel bed like a trad cellar with vents to surface for circulation. Could these just be back filled in place or would concrete poured collar be required in addition? Ground is v, stable - undisturbed free draining gravel. Other option might be a water tank form and concrete/steel pour around? Anybody got any other suggestions how to sort this for cheap? FYI spiral cellars start at about 15k! Ta!
