Hmmm... I'd like to hear the Seat driver's version of events. Could it be he pulled out thinking no one could possibly be going fast enough to hit him at that distance.
You wouldn't be suggesting that the Police ever abuse their position and joyride, would you?!
No, as soon as they don the uniform and enter a taxpayer-owned vehicle they are
safe,
sensible drivers. After all, dangerous drivers
are always punished accordingly.
Don't get me wrong, I staunchly believe that Police officers should be able to drive at whatever speed is required to do their job. But only if they are properly trained.
If they are properly trained, it follows that
a) they will only do that speed when it is safe.
b) the blues-and-twos WILL be on, whether they are doing 31 in a 30 zone or 94.
c) they will only do it if absolutely necessary, not when showing off by giving their mate a joyride.
I once drove at 95mph behind a Police car after he cut me up on a motorway and pebble-dashed my car with acetate grit. I was hoping he'd stop me so I could give him a piece of my mind, but the bu**er must have been late to come off shift because I followed him for 2 miles and only let off when he entered a 40 zone at 70.
