The air bag warning light has recently stayed 'ON' when driving and intermittently flashes when the car drives over bumps. On other occassions it stays 'OFF'.

As the car has both driver, passenger and door bags I am not looking forward to pulling out the dash and internal trimmings looking for a 'loose connection'.

Where should I start looking?

Am surprised that a permanent indication is not a MOT failure.

first thing id try dude is the wires under your seat, these get the most hammer what with the obvious of the seat being sat on and moved forwards and backwards. disconnect, check terminals for cleanliness, and contact, try seperating the terminals so that when reconnected they 'push' harder against the female terminals.
kind regards

Stivino, indicator is still flashing intermittently . I'll have to start hunting down the dodgy connector!!

Stivino, the indicator is not intermittent as I mentioned previously, it is actually on permanently. I haven't touched any wiring looms yet so what did the 'reset' process you referred to actually do to the air bag electrics?
