NMH Batteries

Has anyone else had problems with NMH batteries. I have an Hitachi drill which uses NMH and several AA and AAA NMH batteries. They all work fine when used straight off the charger but do not retain their charge when quiescent. This is a nuisance with the drill as you cannot use a spare battery out of the box.

Strange that they are NiMH batteries, NiCAD are a lot better for power tools.

NiMH discharge themselves twice as fast as NiCAD when not in use. Can you not buy the NiCAD battery for it?

I suspect that the move away from NiCd towards NiMH is due to environmental concerns. Cadmium is not nice stuff to have piling up in rubbish dumps.

nmh dont suffer from memory so put them on charge the day before

Spend a bit more, get decent kit.
As BiG says charge the night before.........not rocket science is it.
