Hello, could anyone tell me why there are no airbricks or weep joints above my DPC?
When I look at walls of other houses they all seem to have them.

Because none were needed?
Okay, but why not? According to what I read, the moisture needs to escape a cavity wall, hence the need for airbricks and weep joints. Most walls seem to have them, so I wondered why I don't have any. Is the moisture escaping another way, or is there no moisture because these bricks don't absorb water? I am trying to understand if I have moisture 'trapped' in the wall?

You will, hopefully, have a "trough", normally 225mm deep, between the two skins of the cavity wall below the dpc where any water that penetrates the outer skin can collect and harmlessly evaporate.

If that's your house the height of the decking relative to the dpc might be a slight concern but unlikely to be a real issue.

Weep holes are only fitted in conjunction with a cavity tray. The fitting of a tray in that location is limited and specific not commonplace.

Air bricks are not fitted to vent a cavity

Thanks, I see what you mean about the decking, too high...

Thanks, understand now. Have a 'crack' at the end of the wall, so wondered if it was because of a moisture problem but sounds like that is not the case...
