We have recently purchased a property in Pembrokeshire. It's a stone cottage that's been extended out the back and to the side. It total, there are 4 gable walls, 5 including the porch.
On each of the gables the roof slates sit flush, or close to flush with the wall render.
Is this a problem? We are told that a lot of old houses around Wales are built like this, but also know that it would not pass today's building control. We're concerned about water ingress and possible cause of damp.
Thanks for all informed responses.
