The manager of my local was telling me that there is a national Guinness shortage.

He runs the Shanakee in Ealing. It is an old skool Irish boozer. Great atmosphere, and possibly the best jukebox in west London.

He has managed to get what he needs but had to use numerous suppliers.

I love the pub, but can't stand the black stuff.

I have to say that the 0% Guinness is the nearest thing to an original alcoholic version that I've found so far.

They have also raised the Guinness logo on the side of the glass, maybe that led to the shortage. As said a smart bit of PR, one pint short of planned production is technically a shortage. They must be using ST's accountants.

It’s marketing hype but there are far better stouts out there. Wye Valley Wholesome Stout and Fixed Wheel Blackheath Stout would be good places to start. For LA I recommend Big Drop Galactic.

Only way they'll ever run out ' the black stuff is when the Liffey runs dry - no chance of that happening as global warming gets sea levels rising.

The used to make Guiness at the Park Royal Brewery in West London.
It is closed down now .
So don't know if Guinness is still brewed in England.

What's that pouring beak I've seen on the telly?

I remember the Park Royal site. At one point, as an 16 year old I was a driver's mate.

All (regular) guinness is from Dublin now.

They sold off most of the land and built the Diago HQ.

All brewed in Ireland now as far as I'm aware. I'm not a regular guinness drinker, and it's probably my imagination, but I found it tasted better in Ireland than Britain, I also thought it tasted better in Dublin than Northern Ireland. Doesn't make sense but I genuinely thought that.

Most beers brewed in the mainland UK are inferior to those brewed overseas due to the state of our water. My mate will only drink Stella brewed outside of the UK, mainly because it is weaker in the UK. My penchant for a drink is German brewed wheat beer.

Is the Shanakee a new pub in Ealing Broadway?
I used to live in Ealing many years ago.

Friday and Saturday night we would go drinking around the pubs in Ealing Broadway.

I remember the North Star pub and facing it was the feathers hotel.
Are they still there.
