no hot water/central heating intermitant

hi everyone

i have a small problem with my worcester 240 combi boiler

while running hot water tap it came out cold.
i would say 1 in 10 times of turning the tap and running it again i then actually get hot!! water
also did the same on central heating

every time you turn the hot tap/put heating on --- the pilot flame, lights up each time with no problems,so gas is present each time, but the flame will not ignite the main burner (combustion tank).
the exhaust fan is a-ok as you can hear that running.

You can either change parts blindly, Solenoid, Pcb, etc etc, or get a RGI to have a look, this would be your best oprion

It may be a small problem, but it is tenacious and no doubt it will get bigger. Would I be far off guessing that it is more than a year ago since the boiler was serviced properly?
