Hi There,

I have tried to scower the various on line forums to try to resolve my problem but have been unsuccsesfull.

I apologise in advance if the questions i ask seem silly or confusing, i will try to explain the best i can, any help to the following will be very much appreciated!

We noticed that the hot water started to take longer coming through over a period of two weeks (water supply still ok, just taking longer to get hot), now it has stopped completley (just cold water). I checked the central heating and that does not work either now! :(

When the hot tap or heating is turned on, the bolier makes all the usual noises (rush, click click click etc etc) but to me just seems like it fails to ignite.

The pilot light is on and the water pressure is ok, i have removed the panel from underneath and can see three main components. one of these is for the hot water and the other one for the heating (i assume), both have a"pin" like bit that moves in/out when it see's a demand from either the hot water tap or the heating being turned on, and activates a limit switch (which makes a clicking sound).

I have been asked to check to see if the pump is running, but i do not think i have one, i think that possibly the water pressure is provided from the mains supply??

As previoulsy mentioned i know nothing about boilers but I am an engineer, so i do not mind having a go myself - if only i knew where to start.

any adivice, help or further direction will be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Martyn

Hi,

Not sure if this helps, but i just turned on both hot water taps in the bathroom and the one in the kitched and the boiler ignited and i had hot water.

Kevplum: i know i posted this thread last week, but i have not been around to look at it.

Anyhelp from any one will be appreciated :)

Wait for DP. But I assure you you do have a pump. Look for a big screw in the middle of its flat end. Undo and poke small screwdriver in to see if its turning. It'll dribble a bit.

The pin on the left hand side will retract for both heating and hot water. If that is the case, pump is running and system pressure is adequate.

Thanks for the reply guys,

Ok i'll check again to see where my pump is, and try to see if its running, but as you mention i thought that if i had a pump problem then i would see this as reduced water pressure out of the taps and shower??

Is it possible to tell/ explain why you it went hot when i turned all the taps on?

Also i have two "components" that each have a pin that moves when it senses a demand, one on the left and one on the right of the boiler, one moves for the hot water and the other for the heating,

DP: just so i am sure, you would not mind if i emailed you with regards to this?

Thanks again

Martyn
