My central heating system (rads and water) stopped working on saturday, I have a potterton flamingo 2 boiler, coupled with a myson pump and 2 zone valves. I believe the fault may be the temperature sensor as the boiler fires up only for a minute or two regardless of what the thermostats are set to. The zone valves are opening and closing fine and the pump seems to be working, it is not seized as I have checked this.

Turn boiler stat to minimum, but not off and see how many seconds it is on
Leave to cool down, turn boiler stat to max and time again.
Feel the pipes a couple of metres away from the boiler to see if there is any flow at all

Check the ball valve in the header tank is not stuck and tank empty.. if it is full put a hose on a draincock start emptying system if the water level does not drop and start filling you have a blocked cold feed
