Hi,

We have been moving pipes and plumbing about slightly in the bathroom and kitchen - as a result we have had the water off and on several times over the last couple of months whilst working.

Since the last time we had the hot water on we have removed a radiator from the kitchen by capping the pipes.

We have put a hot and cold tap into the garage by running pipes from the bath tap pipes (upstairs) under the floor boards in the bedroom and down the outside wall into the garage.

At the moment none of the radiators are up due to decorating.

Last night we put the water back on - all fine, and we turned the hot water on.

After an hour the water was still stone cold. The pump next to the water cylinder in the ariring cupboard (also upstairs) was red hot, the pipes which should have been hot were warm from the heat of the pump but were quite clearly not containing warm water. We turned the hot water off.

We have not turned any taps on pipes in the house since the last time we had the hot water on except the mains. This morning at about 6 I put the immersion on to give us some hot water. Within twenty mintes the cylinder appeared to contain boling! water - we could hear it (i presume the thermostat is broken) having tuned the immersion heater off on hearing the boiling I left it for an hour and then ran a bath which gave me a bout 1 inch of very hot water and that was it. What is going on? or more to the point what have I done?

Thanks
