No tax rises for working people.

Since 2019 Tories put in place £80b of tax rises, resulting in highest taxes 70 years.

Mottie was perfectly okay with massive tax rises when it’s was his team.

I always understood that to mean there would be no rise in the rate of income tax or national insurance.
I understood it to mean that the working man would not be impacted by tax rises, just big businesses, international 'tax efficient' corporations and the ultra wealthy.

Such a rise in fuel per litre will drive up costs across the board AND inflation.

Neither would seem to be a good idea

RAC estimates it at 5p per litre though. Either way, it’s not going down or remaining the same.
What's that, about 3.5% of the current fuel price?
Much less than the inflation rate over the last 5 years.

The Tory government increased VAT to 20% (an increase of 8%) in 2011, within a few months of taking office.

A source like this including the publisher might hope for Labour to deny it. Fact is the duty has been frozen since ~2011. If not it would be 5p higher.

Your old team you mean ?

Hilarious that our armchair Tort bots, are suddenly petrified of tax rises, since their scrounging tax dodging rabble were booted out of government, lol.

This is what they actually said. I believe my interpretation is the more sensible one.

Working people are facing the highest tax burden in 70 years. That's why Labour will not raise income tax, national insurance or VAT.

Let's just accept that everyone's (except for the chosen few) lifestyle is going to be affected. Some peoples to a very damaging degree. The plans the wife and I have we now expect to be altered dramatically.

I also expect to see one or both of our state pensions go as we both have private pensions as well.

That's sad to hear. Is there any change in particular you are worried about?

I don't know that much about pensions, but I didn't realise that any such change was mooted.
