May I ask if anyone has had experience of using noise-cancelling headphones costing £50 or less? I am tempted to buy the Philips for use in aircraft - are they really effective at that price?

I always use the ones UAL provide on their flights, don't know how much they cost the airline, but doubt they would be over £50.

They're excellent at limiting the constant humming noise from the engines and make long flights a much more relaxing experience.

If you're sitting in a cabin full of screaming babies, they won't make a difference though...
